The Young Reader Council and Create-A-Smile depends on the generosity of individuals and businesses in the community, like you, to provide donations for children. Illiteracy is a real problem in the world and as a whole we can help eliminate this problem. Your $ donations can help one child receive his or her own personalized book that they will cherish for a life time and don't forget this is a Great Way To Use Your Advertising Dollars because for each book you donate your company or individual name will be displayed on the Front Page of that Book. So, come on help us in creating smiles everywhere in the world.

Q- How are personalized books different from ordinary books? A - Personalized children's books are different from ordinary books because the story is actually about each individual child in the designated school, hospital, religious organization or group. His or her name, along with other personal information is blended into every story on almost every page - turning the book into a Keepsake Item. Children and their families actually want to read these stories because the story is about them. Q - How are personalized books made? A - Information about each child is entered into a program and the story is printed out on high quality paper. The printed pages are integrated with the full color illustration pages then bound with a patented binding system. Finally, the books are assembled with easy wipe-off hard covers. Q - How many pages are in the personalized books? A - Each book is approximately 36 pages - 18 pages of text and 18 pictures. Except for the Graduation Book, which is a Specialty Title, therefore is a few pages less and includes special plastic sleeves for the recipient's pictures. Q - How big are the Personalized Books? A - Each Create-A-Book is approximately 7" x 8 ½" inches. Q - What age groups are targeted? A - The books we carry are targeted toward children ranging from birth to age 12. The Graduation Book however, is aimed at High school students and college graduates. A favorite with children and with Create-A-Smile too is My School Fun Book and it targets Kindergartners and/or 1st graders. Special Delivery Baby Book, Baby's Create-A-Book and The World's Most Precious Baby are given to new Moms and later become a keepsake book for the child as it carries the story of his/her birth. The Fishing Adventure and Camping Adventure books target all kids and their imagination. Q - What information is needed to complete a book? A - In order to make a Create-A-Book® truly each child's very own book; I would typically need each child's name, age and gender. More information may be needed for certain books, which makes this personalized.Say for example a child’s favorite color or toy! Q - What is your Privacy Policy? A - Information collected to make every child's book special and every program possible is NEVER shared with a third party - Not even the sponsors. Children's privacy and safety is taken very seriously at Create-A-Smile as we have children of our own and truly understand parental concerns. Q - What is the minimum size of a group to be considered for a Give-A-Book program? A - Create-A-Smile will coordinate Give-A-Book programs for Schools, hospitals, Religious Organizations and/or Groups that have at least 20 children as recipients. Q - How long does it take to provide the books? A - Depending on the size of the group, getting the books ready for distribution can range from a couple of days to a week from receipt of funds and all information needed to complete each child's story. A more accurate time frame is determined during the agreement phase of the project. Q - Would you consider coordinating a Give-A-Book program outside of your local area? A - No, not at this time; however, it is our goal to help as many children as possible, and we believe that the Killeen, HarkerHeight, Copperas Cove, and Temple area is our Goal at this time. But we do not know what the future hold.
